Fight Like a Girl

To do something ‘like a girl’ has a negative connotation; ‘You throw like a girl’, ‘You run like a girl’, ‘You fight like a girl’. I don’t think I really need to explain why this is extremely problematic to say the least and needs to change. Why does doing anything like a woman have a connotation of weakness or inadequacy? It’s an abhorrent example of ongoing sexism that to do anything ‘like a girl’ or have feminine characteristics is seen as a bad thing.

Kaol Porfirio has created this series of illustrations that shatter the concept of fighting like a girl being a bad thing and instead celebrates female characters who have more than proven that fighting like a girl means strength, bravery and a force to be reckoned with.
