Today I’d like to share with you a recipe for a quick DIY face mask which nourishes and gently exfoliates your skin. Though perfect for dry winter skin, this face mask is suitable for all skin types.
1 teaspoon of honey
1 teaspoon of yoghurt
Both the honey and the yoghurt are very nourishing and have a brightening effect on your skin.
½ teaspoon of poppy seeds
Poppy seeds are a gentle exfoliator.
¼ teaspoon of activated charcoal powder (optional)
You can order activated charcoal powder online or from your local pharmacy. Its detoxifying abilities make it very beneficial for acne prone skin. Also, it tints the face mask as black as your soul, ha ha … (Please note: Although the charcoal powder does not permanently stain your sink, I’m not sure if this also accounts for stains on your clothing, for this has not happened to me yet!)
Simply blend all the ingredients together in a little bowl and apply the face mask to your clean, dry face. Leave on your face for about five minutes and then wash it off (either with your fingers or a sponge), making circular movements. In doing so, your skin gets gently exfoliated and your blood circulation is stimulated. Thoroughly remove the face mask, towel down your face and apply a moisturizer of your choice (though I would suggest a light formula, as the face mask itself is pretty hydrating, too).

Since this whole process does not take more than 10 minutes in total, this DIY face mask is perfect for pampering yourself even if life is busy. I mean, this is when we need it the most, right?
